Forensic Interviewer/Family Advocate

FORENSIC INTERVIEWER

Job Description

Definition: A professional position charged with interviewing child victims of reported sexual, physical, or any other type of abuse or neglect.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities (Include but not limited to)
• Coordinate interview schedules with members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
• Interview children alleging abuse using forensic interviewing techniques in accordance with the Interviewing Protocol.
• Obtain information from caregivers of the child prior to the interview.
• Facilitate MDT pre and post interview staffing and other case review meetings.
• Prepare cases and present to court hearings when subpoenaed.
• Participate in MDIT meetings.
• Maintain statistics as needed for center.
• Assist Executive Director, Program Manager or Supervisor of FI/FA as needed.
• Other duties/programs as assigned.

Qualifications
• Minimum education requirement is having an Associate degree with one-year (1) previous experience with children and families. Associates degree can be substituted for two years (2) working with children and families.

Required
• Strong team building, problem solving, organizational, and oral communication skills are necessary.
• Experience working in human service field or with children and families.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a cooperative manner with diverse professional groups, as a team player.

Desired
• Training or experience in working with trauma victims, people with disabilities, and people with
mental health disorders preferred; but not required.
• Knowledge of the courts, social service system, and victim’s rights preferred; but not required.
• History of working in a non-profit agency.
